My Mission
To deliver a patient centred, evidenced-based management approach to adult spinal pathology. This takes into account the patient’s needs and limitations and covers, comprehensively, both non-operative and operative options. I believe that informed patient choice is the corner stone of this practice.
Minimally invasive spinal surgery is a method of achieving the fundamental goals of the treatment (i.e. decompressing the nerves &/or stabilising the spinal column, etc.) while inflecting the minimum damage to the muscle envelope.
The technique has evolved tremendously over the course of the last few years. This broadened the application spectrum and allowed for more patients to recover quickly and with less pain.
Major strides in understanding the effect of the degeneration on the spine and its alignment were made over the last 10 years. These findings allowed for better counselling of patients and informed the management decisions and planning. This field is truly complex and management options are variable and demanding. In depth training and experience in the field is important for getting the best results.
I have completed two prestigious training fellowships over two years focusing on this aspect of spinal pathology both in the U.K. and Canada. This allows me to offer expert counselling and treatment options while utilizing the latest techniques in its management.
Back pain is very common but it’s causes are very variable. This creates a number of challenges in its diagnosis and management. Through a a systematic diagnostic approach and a detailed understanding of spinal degeneration and spinal alignment, an underlying cause can be identified.
I work with a team of experienced physiotherapists and pain management consultants allowing for a comprehensive treatment approach to troublesome symptom.
The role of injections and surgical interventions in back pain is limited but if a cause is carefully identified, these technique can be effective in some of the cases.
One of the many functions of the spine is to protect the nerves contained in it. however, degeneration can result in changes that can adversely affect the nerves. When the nerves are affected, pain, numbness and/or weakness can start and might significantly affect the quality of life. Pain can be severe and disabling and can take over ones life.
Through careful examination and investigations, the source of the symptoms can be identified and effectively treated. Most of the time, the treatment is simple and non-invasive but on occasion, an intervention (injection or sometimes surgery) is required to remedy the problem.
I consultation is the first step to getting a diagnosis and planning the next phase in the treatment. I am here to help through a clear and patient tailored discussion of the available treatment options.
Over the last few decades, spinal surgery witnessed a number of advancements that transformed the field both in the field of diagnostics and intervention. Spinal Navigation surgery has been one of those quantum leaps allowing precise and fast instrumentation, minimizing the complications associated with mal-positioned implants and allowing for advanced minimally invasive interventions that protects the tissues around the spine and enhances recovery following surgery.
I have received advanced training in the use of this technology and apply this skill in all my instrumentations to offer my patients an advantage over and above any other instrumentation technique.
I have been interviewing and preparing medico-legal reports for personal injury claims for a number of years. I work with an exceptional team that allows me to offer reports turn around within 2-3 weeks. Due to time restraints, I do not offer reports for negligence cases.
